Fox Populi is a hilarious journey through the crackly airwaves of contemporary culture, a bi-lingual cross between Stand-up Comedy and Sit-down Poetry. With a radio-mic in one hand and a bar of chocolate in the other, Kate Fox listens to comedians and psychiatrists, runners and nutters, and joins the pioneering sociologist Harriet Martineau in a Call Centre in modern day Tynemouth.
Drawing on her previous publications, Why I?, Why Not I Too?, We are Not Stone and Kate Fox News, as well as recently commissioned poems for the page, the stage and the studio, Fox Populi is the kind of poetry that doesn’t ignore most people.
Praise for "Fox Populi"
Self deprecating and wry throughout, this is poetry that is both accessible, true and wise.
- The Crack magazine
Funnier than Wordsworth and less obtuse than Eliot, Kate’s more Milligan than Milton. There’s wisdom sandwiched between the jokes and a side garnish of gentle outrage. There are also autobiographical flashes and sombre interludes but even when it isn’t centre stage, you can sense the intelligent humour twitching in the wings.
- The Journal
A bi-lingual cross between Stand-up Comedy and Sit-down Poetry, fabulous,feminist and funny.
- Morning Star
Bold and brassy and very, very funny.
- Tribune Magazine
Witty, moving and downright clever poems.
